I’m sure this isn’t the first time you’ve seen this pink wall. If you follow fashion blogs (or anyone from the LA area for that matter) – you’ve probably seen it one too many times, but hey I was in the area and couldn’t resist a shoot! It’s been pretty hot in SoCal lately yet that doesn’t stop me from wearing the darkest color in the book. Although I do think summer time is great for bringing out the bold and bright colors and stepping away from the darker shades, that doesn’t always work with me and my style and I’m sure there are tons of you out there who feel the same! For those of us whose closet consists of more black than any other color, it is pretty much impossible to avoid the urge to throw on black pieces during this warm season. However, there’s a difference between the black I wear in the summer and the black I wear in the winter – it’s all about picking the right fabrics!
All black can sometimes feel too heavy, which is fine for the winter, but for summer it is best to opt for light weight fabrics. This is the time to experiment with unconventional shapes, lengths, and fabrics such mesh, lace, and sheer pieces. For today’s post I’m wearing a sheer dress from Forever 21! I was actually quite surprised to find this piece at Forever because it is different from the majority of items they carry, but I always get excited when I unexpectedly find fun pieces like this there. The sheer fabric, stripped design, and side slits make this dress super edgy which of course is my favorite style! This dress just like this 2024 black dresses for prom is the perfect example of an all black lovely dress – it is just so light weight! I think sheer is one of the coolest fabrics and I literally mean coolest haha. Whenever it’s super hot, I stray away from tight fitting clothes because it is just not the most comfortable option. This thin fabric not only makes it much easier to breathe in the scorching summer heat, but it is also loose and flowy which makes it so comfortable! The last thing you want in 100 degree weather is all black AND a skin tight dress. No thanks! I paired the look with my open toe booties from LF Stores, Ray-Ban aviators, and Kooples side bag. Ultimately, if you’re not a color-loving girl, you can still wear all black in the summer without looking like a mistake, just be sure to pick light weight fabrics! But hey, summer is almost over anyways so let’s just bring out all the dark colors now 🙂
